Will the 2023 College World Series produce another darkhorse national champion, or will chalk prevail?
Better yet: Will someone other than the SEC win the national title? The conference has claimed the three previous CWS championships and four of the last five. At least one team from the conference has played in the CWS finals dating back to 2017, and twice it has fielded the last two teams in the event (2017 and 2021).
If there is a favorite to break the SEC's hold on college baseball, then it's Wake Forest. The top overall seed of the 2023 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament has swept its opponents in both the regionals and super regionals, outscoring opponents 75-16 in that time.
Of course, there are a few of those darkhorse candidates this year, most notably Oral Roberts and TCU, both of which are looking for their first College World Series championships. LSU, Tennessee and Florida represent the SEC contingent, while previous national champions Virginia and Stanford round out the College World Series field.

ESPN will have exclusive coverage of the 2023 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament, including the College World Series. Each of the games will air on ESPN, with only two games — 13 and 14, respectively — potentially airing games on ESPN2.
