Virat Kohli is often regarded as the poster boy of Indian cricket. From social media followers to several brand endorsements the batsman has an all-encompassing presence in the digital world.

How does Virat Kohli earn over Rs 1000 crore?

Kohli is listed in the 'A+' category by the BCCI, which means that he has an annual contract worth Rs seven crore. His matchday fees are Rs 15 lakh per Test appearance, Rs 6 lakh each for ODI, and Rs 3 lakh for a single T20 match.

Meanwhile, he earns another Rs 15 crore annually for being a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). 

However, most of his earnings stem from being 'Brand Kohli'. It is reported that he charges between Rs 7.5 crores to 10 crores per advertisement and is associated with more than 18 brands. The total ad-earning amount to a whooping Rs 175 crores annually which include brands like MRF, Tissot, Cinthol, Star Sports, American Tourister and many more. 

 

If Kohli endorses a brand on Instagram, he charges Rs 8.9 crore while another Rs 2.5 crore for an advert post on Twitter. The apartment where he lives in Mumbai is believed to be worth Rs 34 crores whereas the one in Gurgaon is over Rs 80 crores. 

Moreover, he has invested in several start-ups including Blue Tribe, MPL, Digit, Universal Sportsbiz and more. He is also the owner of the One 8 restaurant chain, Nueva - another luxury dining chain, Stepathlon - which is a kids' lifestyle brand.
