With the Golden Knights and Panthers playing in the 2023 Stanley Cup Final, the NHL was guaranteed a first-time winner. That honor went to Vegas, who knocked off Florida to win the 2023 championship.

Golden Knights fans didn't have to wait long to see their team win a title. This was the club's sixth season in the league, joining the NHL as an expansion team in 2017. However, in the franchise's short history, it already has won two Western Conference titles and now has a Stanley Cup championship.

While Vegas was able to deliver a Stanley Cup to the city, the same can't be said for over a third of the league. There are still a multitude of teams out there that have yet to get their hands on Lord Stanley.

The Sporting News takes a look at which teams have never hoisted the Stanley Cup.

Which NHL teams have never won the Stanley Cup?

With the Golden Knights' win in 2023, the list of teams never to win the Stanley Cup has been cut down to 11.

The Coyotes, Sabres, Blue Jackets, Wild, Predators, Sharks, Jets, Senators, Canucks, Panthers and Kraken have never won a championship in NHL history.

Out of the 11 teams, six have made at least one appearance in a Stanley Cup Final. However, five of the clubs — the Coyotes, Jets, Wild, Blue Jackets and Kraken — have never reached the Championship round.

Who has won the most Stanley Cups in NHL history?

The Canadiens have won the most Cups with 24. However, it's been 30 years since the last time Montreal hoisted the trophy, which came in 1993.

After the Habs, it's the Maple Leafs in second with 13, but their last Cup win came in 1967 and the team has not been to the finals since then. It marks the longest Stanley Cup win drought in the league.

In third is the Red Wings with 11, most recently winning in 2008.
