The regular season of the Professional Fighters League is coming to a close. With one fight card left until the playoffs, who will stand out among the lightweights and welterweights?

The sixth event of the PFL’s 2023 regular season will be inside Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta on June 23. ESPN and ESPN+ will air the main card in the U.S., while the event will also be available on DAZN in the U.K.

Lightweights Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Anthony Romero will clash in the main event. Aubin-Mercier turned pro in 2011. A Quebec native, "The Canadian Gangster" lost The Ultimate Fighter Nations tournament in 2014 but ended up amassing a UFC record of 7-5. Signing with the PFL in 2020, Aubin-Mercier has won seven in a row. Last November, the 34-year-old beat Stevie Ray to win the 2022 PFL lightweight tournament.

In his last bout in April, Aubin-Mercier beat Shane Burgos via unanimous decision. He has three points in the standings and needs a decisive win to make it to the playoffs.

Romero turned pro in 2017. "The Genius" competed for KOTC and Fury FC before beating Tony Caruso in February in a PFL Challenger Series matchup. On a three-fight win streak, he looks to beat last year's champion.

In welterweight action, Sadibou Sy faces Shane Mitchell. Sy turned pro in 2013 and joined the PFL in 2018. The Swedish fighter is 8-4-2 with the promotion. On a five-fight win streak, he defeated Dilano Taylor in the finals to win the 2022 welterweight tournament. The 36-year-old beat Jarrah Al-Silawi via TKO in April and has five points, while Carlos Leal, Magomed Magomedkerimov, and Magomed Umalatov have six.

Mitchell, with zero points, turned pro in 2013. "AAA" joined the PFL in 2023, losing to Nayib Lopez via unanimous decision.
