Tim Tszyu has put an exclamation mark on his claim to the super-welterweight title with a stunning first-round demolition of Carlos Ocampo in the Gold Coast on Sunday.

The Aussie was expecting to be made to work for the victory, but in the end, he got the job done in just over a minute to defend his interim WBO belt.

Tszyu's power and accuracy were on full display from the outset as he landed a clean 1-2 with the first punches he threw.

A right hand then stunned his opponent as the Australian smelled blood in the water.

Ocampo went down following a flurry and, while he did answer the count, the writing was on the wall.

Tszyu swarmed following the restart and landed a clean left hook to send the experienced Mexican crashing into the ropes and seeing referee Danrex Tapdesan wave the bout off.

“I knew he was going to be easier to hit but I knew he’s a warrior and he can take the shots," Tszyu said after the win.

"I didn’t think it was going to happen that early in all honesty."

The emphatic win adds yet more intrigue to the proposed meeting with undisputed champion Jermell Charlo.

Here's how the card played out:

Sam Goodman defeats Ra'eese Aleem

Aussie super-bantamweight Sam Goodman booked himself a world title shot with a slick boxing performance to claim a split decision victory (116-112, 117-111, 112-116) over the experienced Aleem.

In a closely fought contest with few real flashpoints, Goodman finished the stronger of the pair, picking up the majority of the rounds in the back half of the fight after a tight opening.

Aleem appeared to fade in the later rounds and Goodman made the most of it to improve to 15-0 and claim the biggest win of his career, handing Aleem his first loss in the process.

Hassan Hamdan defeats Justin Frost

Hamdan claimed a unanimous decision victory (40-36 x3) over Frost in a shortened fight.

The bout was stopped at the end of the fourth round after a head clash caused a nasty cut above Hamdan's left eye.

Hamdan had been the more active and accurate fighter prior to the doctor stepping in.

After the fight, Hamdan said he'd take on Frost in a rematch and vowed to stop him if they meet again.

Rocky Ogden defeats Mark Schleibs

Ogden landed the third first-round knockout from four fights so far.

The pair were fired up for this one after tempers flared at the open workouts earlier in the week but it was Ogden who showed he was too good from the outset.

Schleibs was knocked down twice before another big right hand stumbled him and saw the referee wave the bout off.

Ogden moves to 6-0 as a professional.

Vegas Larfield defeats Jhunrille Castino

Rising super-bantamweight Larfield turns back the challenge of tough Filipino Castino via unanimous decision (59-55 x2, 60-54) to remain undefeated.

Castino started aggressively and had some moments of success but Larfield had taken control by the third round.

The Aussie kept busy and avoided most of Castino's flurries to earn the victory and round out the prelims.

Troy Pilcher defeats Hasely Hepi

Pilcher claims the Queensland heavyweight title with the second first-round stoppage from two fights.

Hepi had a stirring walkout, a nod to his Maori heritage, but it didn't help once the fight got underway.

A Pilcher right hand dropped Hepi for the first time before another uppercut from in close closed the show.

Liam Talivaa defeats Isaac Liki

Talivaa continues the impressive start to his professional career, stopping his debutant opponent in the first round.

The pair were trading in close and the southpaw dropped a bomb on Liki's chin and that was that.
