Legalized sports betting has exploded onto the scene in the United States following the reversal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA) in 2018. Since then, 33 states plus the District of Columbia have legalized sports betting in some capacity, and this number is sure to increase in the coming years.

Is sports betting legal in Oregon?

Sports betting was legalized in Oregon in August 2019, with the Oregon Lottery in charge of the state's legal sports betting.

The Oregon Lottery had paired up with what was known as the Scoreboard Sportsbook app, launching as the state's sole sports betting operator in October 2019. After three-plus years as the state's sole operator, the Scoreboard Sportsbook app ceased operations, with DraftKings taking over in its place.

On Jan. 12, 2022, DraftKings became the Oregon Lottery's official sportsbook provider and is currently the only online sportsbook available in the Beaver State.

How do I bet on sports in Oregon?

Oregon sports betting allows users over the age of 21 to make online and mobile wagers. Additionally, all legal sports bets need to be placed within the state lines. Mobile sportsbooks utilize geolocation to track your phone’s internal GPS chip. When betting online, users are prompted to download a plugin to make legalized bets.

If making retail wagers, head to an Oregon casino to make your bets in person.

Can I bet on college sports in Oregon?

Unfortunately, sports bettors in Oregon are prohibited from wagering on college sports online. 

Oregonians can, however, wager on college sports (including in-state schools) at four of the state's tribal casinos.

Where can I bet on sports in Oregon?

As previously mentioned, DraftKings is the sole online sportsbook operator in Oregon. However, four brick-and-mortar tribal casinos in the state offer sports betting on-site.
