Is there a NASCAR race today? Date, start time, TV schedule for next race after one-week break

At last, a reprieve.

This year's NASCAR Cup Series schedule. but finally, it has reached an interlude.

This weekend will be free of a Cup Series race for the first time since the start of the season. That means no race commands, no wrecks and no victory lane. Just the sweet sound of silence.

That's not a bad thing. This season has been filled with action, but it also has produced plenty of drama. Hendrick Motorsports is in the news week in and week out, for good reasons — like the impressive performances of William Byron and Kyle Larson — and bad. Injuries have been aplenty, with Chase Elliott, Alex Bowman and Chase Briscoe among those afflicted. Ross Chastain is still Ross Chastain.

All of that is to say, NASCAR fans might need some time to breathe. And what better time to do that than on the Cup Series' one off-week? That's what it's there for, right?

Here's what you need to know about this weekend's Cup Series schedule.

Is there a NASCAR race this weekend?

The Cup Series schedule is clear, at least for one week. The series will not race this weekend, with NASCAR granting its top-level drivers a respite from the grind of driving around a track at high speeds for hours on end.

Fans hungry for Cup Series action will just have to wait. NASCAR's premier competition will return on Sunday, June 25, for the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway.

This Sunday is perfect for chores. Or maybe sleep. There's also Father's Day to celebrate. Regardless, don't worry about NASCAR this Sunday. It will be back before you know it.

Why isn't there a Cup Series race this weekend?

This week provides drivers with something that they don't get much of during the regular season: rest. An off-week helps recharge everyone's batteries, something that can prove quite beneficial.
